Ben Godward creates sculptures in expanding urethane foam and resin colored with raw pigment. He creates his compositions using gravity and pouring the hand-pigmented resin into thin acrylic molds. The pours create a striated image composed of strong vertical and horizontal marks. These marks, combined with areas of transparency, create dynamic sculptural objects. Godward’s works appear in a myriad of forms, ranging from painting-like slabs to miniatures the size of ice cubes, to billboard-size outdoor installations. These works often incorporate an extensive array of objects including working printers and ladders, to consumer goods like soda cans and yoga balls. He states that his “sculptures respond to the slick and saturated media of the world we live in. They are reflections of myself, contradictory and impulsive.”1
